Caught in the act

Sometimes even the cleverest of cats (like me) can get caught in the act while doing something I guess I shouldn't be doing. Today, I was seen climbing on the drying rack. To be brutally honest, I almost fell with the stupid rack, it wasn't as sturdy as I imagined it would be. So, here I was:

Mmmm... fresh laundry, I like it.

What do you mean, I shouldn't be here? Why?

Ok ok, I leave the drying rack alone... For now....

It's getting hotter up here

The winter is getting closer and the weather colder. My staff has a nice fireplace they are starting to use. I use it simply to climb on the wall behind it, but I have understood that the staff will light a fire in it. Interesting. I'm guessing it warms up the fireplace nicely, so I will have a pretty nice place to cosy up and rest. Lovely. I just hope it doesn't get too warm up there, I wouldn't want to burn my paws. I think this will be my new favourite spot during the winter!

Food!

Here I am doing one of my favourite things, eating! Or actually in this picture I'm drinking some water, but you'll get the idea. I have two separate bowls for my food; one for the soft and mushy food, and one for my cat cereal. Now, I can be quite picky with the mushy food, and I don't think the lady of the house gives me the finest of the food that would be available. There is a lot of room for improvement there. I don't yet know how to get my message through properly, but I'm working on that.

One funny thing I like to do with my water bowl, is to simply turn it upside down! Hilarious! The lady of the house gets really angry when I do that. She has even bought me a bowl that is quite difficult to turn around, since it's so heavy. But I can do it still. I think it´s a nice joke, but no-one else seems to understand it. Strange...

Quality control process

One of the most important tasks in my quality control process auditing is monitoring the clean-up of my litter box. It's mostly done by the lady of the house, and she's quite good at it too. This doesn't mean I wouldn't need to follow her work though. I have noticed that it is essential that I sit right next to the litter box during the whole cleaning process. Here's a good example of a decent result:

Nice and clean litter box, and I take some of the credit of  the result!

One step closer

You might remember these guys? The fishes of the family? I have been entertaining the idea of catching them somehow, but so far I haven't been able to get any results. The glass between me and the fish seems too thick, and I was almost out of ideas, until yesterday! I realised I could jump ON the aquarium! There are even small holes on the top of the aquarium, where I could easily put my paws into. It was a shame that the staff noticed my plan, and they removed me of the aquarium immediately. I guess they wouldn't appreciate me catching the fish. I heard they are planning all kinds of security arrangements in order to protect the fishes. Hmph...there are plenty of fish in that box, they wouldn't even notice if I would catch a couple of them! So typical of my staff to think so narrow minded.

ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Yawn... Today I'm just sleepy and tired. Nothing to read here I'm afraid. Good night!

She thinks she's so clever

Well, I have to admit that she actually is. Quite clever I mean. I'm talking about the lady of the house of course. She was very annoyed with my habit of digging the soil out of the flowerpots. I guess I spilled some dirt on the floor too, and  she didn't like that at all. I think she was being a bit petty, considering the mess the smallest members of the staff can make on their rooms. You should see them, there are toys and stuff EVERYWHERE! Sometimes the floors in their rooms are so covered with legos and everything that it is difficult to walk there. So I wouldn't consider some soil on the floor as any major issue. But the lady of the house obviously did. This is her revenge:

See? She put stones on the flowepots! I can't reach the soil anymore!! My paws are too weak to move the stones out of the way! Darn! I can still smell the inviting smell of the soil, especially when the lady of the house waters the plants. But I can't reach it! It's so annoying!

Even bigger stones in these flowepots. I have to admit that in this game she is the winner. Darn.

Staring out the window

During the summertime I was let out every now and then. That hasn't happened for a while now. I'm pretty OK with that though, I'm happy to be able to watch the garden through the window. Sometimes when I see the smallest members of my staff play and have fun on the yard, I would like to join them. I have heard that the neighbours wouldn't appreciate if I accidentally would go to their garden, so I'm kept indoors. Well, how can a simple cat know where the limits of ones own garden are, if there aren't any fences?

Anyhow, the garden of my mansion is yet quite boring. There aren't any big trees I could climb to, since the house and the garden are quite new and there weren't any old trees there. What mostly interested me outside were the insects. It was fun trying to catch them. But now during the fall, the insects have disappeared somewhere. Luckily there are birds now instead. Lucky for them I'm behind the window....

I have heard the staff talking about introducing me to snow, whatever that means. It doesn't sound that tempting, but we'll see how it is during the upcoming winter.

Sunday 22 September 2013

I don't know....

...maybe I should become a vegetarian?

But I don't think even the greens eat palm trees? Do they?

So it's Sunday. I can't wait the weekend to be o-v-e-r!! I do like my staff and depend on them on many things, but boy do they get on my NERVES a lot of the time. Sometimes they just don't leave me alone! They can be quite noisy too, especially the smallest ones. But on Monday, sweet sweet Monday, they all go somewhere for most part of the day. And they do that also on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. That's what I call my quality time. I can do whatever I want to in my mansion. Lovely. Have a nice week guys!

I've seen paradise

Yes I have. I have been in a wonderful place where an indoor cat can roam free among bushes, grass and trees. I have felt the fresh air and cobwebs on my whiskers, I have smelled the mice that live there, I have climbed the trees and watched the birds. It truly was a paradise. I have been promised that I can go there every summer with my staff. They modestly call it a cottage, but for me it really is a heaven on earth. As always, I have pictures for you.

See? Pure heaven.

Here you can also see a part of my staff, the smallest of them. They love the place as much as I do. My paradise is a small island. The way to the island requires some effort, they put me in my travel box, and we travel by car and by boat to the island. But it's all worth it, and I'm a very patient and well behaved traveller. Since it's an island, I can run free there because my staff knows I won't be going even near the water, so there is nowhere to escape. Not that anyone would want to escape that place.

Sigh... I miss my island paradise so very much. If I could count, I would count the days until the next summer. But I can't so I just miss the place... Sigh.

Meoooowwww

Sorry for the shocking picture, but that's all I have to say today. Meooowww!

Wednesday 18 September 2013

I got beef

Well, actually this was a good thing, I was given some bites of a delicious steak. The lady of the house and the big one were having steak for dinner, and guess what? I was invited to the table! The steak was sooo delicious. If there is one thing the big one can do, it's cooking. He can make the best steaks in town. Believe me I was in heaven when I got to taste some quality food instead of that suspicious general substance which is stuffed in the catfood cans. Like always, here are some pictures of this event:

Here I am, just like any other human being, enjoying my dinner.

What is this, what is this, what is this...

Ohhh, steak... I'm in heaven!

So that was a glorious Saturday evening. After that, back to the basic catfood...

Staying in shape

I'm a handsome cat with a slim figure, and I try to keep it that way. It doesn't come for free though, I need to keep moving to burn those calories. Climbing is a good exercise, but the possibilities indoors are unfortunately quite limited. I also like to do the basic cat thing; dash, plunge and swoop preposterously around the house. That is very effective, and it's fun too. People should try that sometimes, it might cheer them up a bit.

After exercising, you should never forget to stretch proprely. Cats are veeeery good at stretching. As todays pictures, I will show you my favourite stretching moves on my climbing pole:

Hello, let's start the exercise!

 Stretching my neck here...

Keep moving, keep moving...

Paws ready.....

...and streeeeeetccchhh!

There. Now it's time for another nap. Bye bye!

Double doors

Ok, so the staff made me a new entrance to my litter box room. I'm not quite sure what to think about  that, but I guess it's fine. My staff was all worried that I wouldn't understand how the new pet door works. Hello, I'm a cat, I have brains! I'm capable of many things that require some higher reasoning. So this is how it looks like now. They made me practice the going-through-the-door routine several times by pushing me through it. Well, I pleased them by going along with it, though it was very much unnecessary. I mean, who wouldn't understand the function of a pet door? Well, a stupid dog maybe...

See? Easy peasy. So why go through all this trouble? I guess they didn't like the smell of my litter box that wandered around the whole house when the door was open. Also from what I've heard, they won't heat this room that much during the winter, so it would be best to be able to keep the door closed. So they expect me to freeze my butt off when I need to visit my litter box?? We'll see about that... Might be that I need to teach them a lesson there.

Sunday 15 September 2013

What..

...on earth is my staff up to? They have taken down the door to my litter box room and now they are doing something suspicious to it. Sometimes I really don't understand humans...

Saturday 14 September 2013

My daily routines

I'm quite precise with my routines for every morning. My staff hasn't quite understood the importance of my routines yet, and I have to remind and guide them quite often. This is how it should be.

First, the staff should wake up around 6 am. Quite often they don't. I even let them sleep well during the night, I don't play around and make noises. Therefore I don't think it would be too much requested that they would wake up when I need them to. If they don't wake up by 6 am, I will need to wake them up. I have noticed though, that I only have to wake the lady of the house. I guess she gets so pissed off when I wake her up, that she eventually wakes up the rest of the staff.

I try to wake her up nicely, I just gently jump on her and start to purr. This might take a while, and if she doesn't wake up, I usually go and chew on her phone on the night stand. That wakes her up pretty fast. In some extreme cases, when none of them wants to wake up, I go in the living room and start to meow veeeery loudly. I just want some company! Is that really too much to ask??

So after the lady of he house has woken up, she gives me my breakfast. That's one thing she has learnt quite well, thank God... But then... Immediately after my breakfast I have to start with my duties, beginning with the most important task; checking out the front yard. I run to my climbing/scratching pole where I can sit and watch the front yard. IF the lady of the house has taken care of HER part of the duties, and opened the blinds of the window. She doesn't always remember and oh boy that is ANNOYING! How can I take care of my duties if she doesn't take care of her part. There might be many things I will miss if I don't get to see through the window in time. Like other cats or some suspicious birds to name a few. If she hasn't remembered the blinds, she remembers them quite fast when I start to scratch them.

So, this is where my most important morning routines end up:

Friday 13 September 2013

TGIF

Thank God it's Friday! Now I think I'll surf the web a bit, have some snacs, hang out on the couch, or maybe on the floor. Such an exciting life I have! See you soon!

Someday, somehow...

...I'm going to get you...you...stupid fish!!

Thursday 12 September 2013

I will follow you...

...follow you wherever you may go... Like to the bathroom when you take a shower. If the lady of the house dares to close the door before I manage to come in, I will announce with my most hurtful voice that I'm offended. I need to be let in to the bathroom too!

I don't think there is a cat who could resist fresh water straight from the floor!

A faithful friend

I can be a very faithful friend to my staff if I want to. I'm quite a social personality, which isn't that common among cats I believe. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate my own time and space, but very often I like to accompany my dear staff in their everyday routines. This happens most often every morning when I like to delight the lady of the house with my company. So, every morning when she brushes her teeth, I watch her and stare at her adoringly, like this:

She usually appreciates that. Then I usually remember that I'm a cat with a catlike personality, and I start pushing the soap dispenser into the sink with my paw. I think it's a fun game, but the lady of the house doesn't find it amusing at all. I guess our senses of humor are a bit different...

Anyhow, I'm a faithful friend to my own humans, and I take that task very seriously.

Cuteness overload

Somedays I'm just so cute I can't stand it. Just look at this picture for a cuteness overload. Nawwww...

The Mystery of the Red Dot

I have a confession to make. I am addicted to chasing a mysterious red dot. I don't get to see the red dot too often, but when I see it, I just can't leave it alone. I just have to chase it everywhere. I don't really understand my own behaviour. I mean, all the other toys and distractions I'm able to choose not to play with, but this stupid red dot just makes me crazy! I just can't leave it alone. My staff made an embarrassing video of me chasing the red dot. It's stupid I know. They say the video is in YouTube now and forever I guess. Can you believe it was the first video they have uploaded there! I can't believe that I'm actually living with ancient dinosaurs who haven't uploaded anything to YouTube before this! It was about time... The video is a bit too long to be honest, and there isn't any backround music either! B-o-r-i-n-g... So please try to imagine some nice, happy music on the background when watching it.  Any music playing in your head right now will do I guess. So, here you go, Carlos The Cat chasing the red dot...

So. That took 1:34 minutes of your life you will never get back. Was it worth it? I doubt it. I think we need to practise this video thingie some more.

How a cat can organize a laundry room

Now I'll tell you all about my greatest accomplishment in this house so far; how I organized the laundry room.

First, this is a picture of me enjoying the results of my work, a nice and organized laundry room. No mess to be seen.

Before, it wasn't like this at all... Can you imagine, there used to be piles of clean laundry on the countertops. You weren't able to see the color of the countertop as you can now. The nice lady of the house is otherwise quite organized, but this part of the house was always a mess. This is also the room where my litter box is located, and the mess in this room really bothered me. I knew I had to do something. So I did what a cat in this kind of a situation can do, I went and peed on the piles of laundry. You heard right, I p-e-e-d on the clothes! Problem solved again. The lady of the house finally realized, that the laundry needs to be folded and put into the closets right after it is dry. The laundry can't be stored on the countertops where it doesn't belong. She will never leave fresh laundry lying around the house again. Never.

Additionally, I fixed a cabinet-doors-left-open problen the same way. I left another smelly message on some of the clothes that are stored in the lower cabinets, when the doors weren't closed. The lady of the house didn't get my message right away, but eventually she noticed it. And she never leaves the doors open again. Never.

Never underestimate the power of the cat...

The Dust Challenge

As I mentioned before, I have been training my staff to improve their housework performance. As you know, cats are very clean creatures. My staff is OK in that department, but there are some issues that needed some extra attention. I will let the pictures speak for themselves:

We live in a pretty nice house, and I have about 146 square meters in my disposal. I have been inspecting the premises and made certain observations and improvement  ideas. As I was checking the higher levels of the house, I found a serious defect. In the picture above, I'm sitting on a wall. Three meters above the floor. Three meters dude. I got there by climbing on top of the fireplace and jumping on the top of the wall. Behind this wall there is a row of kitchen cabinets. Guess what I found on the cabinets? DUST! Loads of dust I tell you. See the next picture if you don't believe me:

Can you see my fur and all the dust on it? Disgusting! I took a stroll on the kitchen cabinets, laid on them a bit, and this happened. I was all covered in dust! That was it, I just had to teach a lesson to my staff. I understand their limitations to reach such heights as I do, so I made sure to sprinkle the evidence so that they could see it. I also made sure to leave some black and dusty paw prints on the wall above the fireplace. That should teach them. And it did! Success! Today, a member of my staff vacuumed and wiped the top of the cabinets. Now it's squeaky-clean for me to rest there in peace, and have a good view over my servants. That's what I call progress!

The Staff

I would like to present to you my staff. I hired them a couple of months ago, and they are still in training. I have to say though, they learn quite fast. I'm quite happy with them. They all have a different and an important role in my life. Anyhow, here they are:

I know they don't look like much, but they are still my staff and important to me. They are quite shy, so I couldn't get a photo of them. But you get the point.

I would describe their roles as a main caretaker and entertainers. The lady of the house (with the yellow hair) is obviously the main caretaker. She feeds me and cleans my litter box. I appreciate that. The others, mainly entertainers. They do have potential to get more responsibilities someday, especially the big one on the right. But so far they mainly entertain me. Don't get me wrong, entertaining is an important thing for me also! As I spend most of my time indoors, life can get quite boring sometimes. Entertainers are the answer to that problem.

So, that was my staff. As I mentioned before, there are things I have had to teach them in my own way, but they are getting there. Slowly but surely.

This is me

Thought I should probably present myself properly with a picture and everything. So here I am. Quite a nice looking fellow don't you think? What you see in this picture, is me hard at work. Observing the staff doing dishes. I have noticed, that some housework processes in this  household needed some improving. As a cat, I have my ways of teaching my staff a lesson or two. I have already seen some improvement as a result of my training sessions. I will share the wisdom with you later on, don't you worry.

Welcome to The Daily Cat

Dear readers. Welcome to my blog. I am a cat in my early years, and I would like to share some of my everyday observations with you, dear readers. Stay tuned to find out more!
